Fun Lovin' Criminals Biography + Pictures
Fun Lovin' Criminals Pictures

Fun Lovin' Criminals biography from http://www.freewebs.com/goldfunlovin
Band from New York.
"Huey" Hugh Angel Diaz Thomas Morgan is the vocalist/guitarist. He had been bred by a Puerto Rican mother and by an Irish father. He was born in
Manhatten, New York, on 8th August 1968.
"Fast" Brian Andrew Leiser (who met Huey in 1993) plays trumpets, harmonicas, keyboards, bass and plently of music instruments at once! As known as
musical genius or "octopus". He is half German and half Scottish/Irish/English. He was born in Westchester, New York, on 29th March 1972.
"Frank" aka "The Rhythm Master" Mark Francis Reid (who met Fast and Huey in 1996) is the drummer of the band. He also released his own album
"Ideal Food For Love". He is English and from Leicester. He plays for the crims since 2003 (after Mackie, the second flc drummer, left).
"Steve" Stephen Byron Borgovini was the first flc drummer for about 3 years (1996-1999). He is Italian. In 2003 he and his Irish wife Amanda
released their own album. The band's name is Needledrop.
* Fun Lovin' Criminals have released 5 studio albums.
Their music is a blend of many genres; hip hop, rock, blues, and jazz. Their songs are sometimes gritty and existentialist, and often deal with
everyday life in New York and most cities: organised crime, violence, drugs, politics and poverty. They are best known for their hit "Scooby
Snacks", which featured samples from films by Quentin Taratino.
----
Interview with ex-FLC drummer Steve-O 2003
Dear Steve,
Which band did you most enjoy drumming for?
Claire xxx
I play guitar in Needledrop so I guess I'd have to say FLC.
Originally I was going to play the drums when Needledrop performed live, but I've already done the drumming "thing". So I decided to learn the
guitar.
Dear Steve,
If you could chill wit eight (famous) people (dead or alive) who would they be?
Martin.
Bob Marley, C.C. Jones, John Frusciante, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Michael Moore, Jesse James (West Coast Choppers), Dalai Lama, Mackie, Frank. Oops
that's nine.
Dear Steve,
What do you think of FLC's new album, Welcome to Poppy's?
Martin.
I haven't heard it. I haven't listened to any of their music since I left... wait... that's not true, I did hear the covers on the lounge cd and I
heard the song they did for the sci-fi soundtrack, Titans?
Steve,
Where was the best city you played during your time as FLC drummer?
Thanks,
Al.
Dublin. I loved that city. I met Amanda there, made a lot of friends that I'm still in contact with, and was always drunk!!! You're welcome Al.
Dear Steve,
Are you and Amanda married?
Martin.
Yes, we are. Amanda and I are best friends & family.
Dear Steve,
Any plans to come to [*Queen's Voice*] "England" with Needledrop?
Martin.
Yes, we would love to perform our most romantic track for Charles and Camilla [*Queen's Voice*] "whilst in the throws of passion"... but I have to
learn how to play the guitar with my eyes closed first.
Steve,
If the queen invited you to Buckingham Palace for tea, would you go?
Claire xxx
No, I'm not down with the queen so much. But I bet she was something before electricity.
Dear Steve,
Where does the inspiration for your new music come from?
Martin.
Love and revenge... revenge and love.
Dear Steve,
Who's bestest: Steve, Mackie or Frank?
Martin.
Frank.
Dear Steve,
Were you in New York on September 11th 2001? How's that affected you?
Martin.
Yes, I was on my way to work actually. I almost got stuck on the A train under the east river.
I'm more critical of the U.S. government... many explanations of the details of that day don't make sense.
Dear Steve,
Do you still own a stake in DiFontaine Carting & Asbestos Removal Co.? Does the garbage company actually exist?
Martin.
Yes I do. I'm in charge of leftovers.
Dear Steve,
How did you get into music and what advice would you give to aspiring FLCs? What instrument did you first learn to play; did you have lessons?
Martin.
I got into music at a very early age. My father played trumpet and my mother loves music as well. There was always music being played in our home.
My advice would be follow your heart, move yo ass, and sacrifice your sanity.
In 5th grade everybody had the opportunity to study a musical instrument. I decided to study the clarinet... but when I went to the store to buy one,
they were all sold out. The next day I found out you could take lessons on the drums.
Dear Steve,
What do you miss most about being in FLC?
Hollie xxx
Performing on stage with FLC were some of the happiest moments in my life... so far.
Dear Steve,
When I've watched you in the old music vids, you're the happiest drummer I've ever seen! Would you say this is generally true?
Claire xxx
ABSOLUTELY!!! 100%!!!!!
Steve-O,
What is your view on Globalization?
Ruth.
I don't think rich, old, white, American, men should control the world's economy.
Globalization in the past and in the present proves profitable for developed countries but leaves poorer countries suffering worse than they already
are.
How do they put it "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer".
Dear Steve,
Which character in the Sopranos are you most like?
Martin.
Billy bass.
Steve,
Are you gonna bring in any influences from your FLC experience to your new band? Did you see the film 'donnie darko'?
jayflc.
Yes, all of them. And yes, I did. It changed my life.
Steve,
Did it ever annoy you that FLC weren't as well-known as they could be, or doesn't the fame thing bother you?
Claire xxx
Yes. I'm a meglomaniac (like madonna).
Dear Steve,
What's your favourite old-skool FLC song and favourite new one?
Martin.
I was always fond of Smoke 'Em... don't know the new stuff.
Steve,
Hmmm... ok I'm curious to know what kind of sound your new band has, y'know what influences you guys have and when you're touring over on these
green and pleasant shores?
piemaster.
Go to http://www.needledropnyc.com/. All your answers can be found there much better
then I can write them here. Thanks for the opportunity to plug the site!!!
Dear Steve,
If you were still in the band do you think FLC would have taken a different musical direction, or did you not have much say in things like that?
Ruth.
I guess it would have taken 1/3 of a different route, and we would have been bigger than the Beatles AND Jesus Christ AND Oasis.
STEVE'S FINAL THOUGHT
Thanks to everybody that cared enough to write and ask me a question.
Also, big ups to Martin for helping me get my website off the ground.
Hope to see ya all soon. Drinks are on me!!!!!
Steve.............................O

Interview with new FLC drummer Frank
Dear Frank,
Who's your biggest musical influence? What's your favourite album of all time?
Love Hollie xxx
Hollie my little baby, the main man of all time is PRINCE, he's my main influence....why?
He mastered 21 instruments by the age of twelve. TOP RESPECT.
One of my favourite albums (because I have too many favourites) is Sign of the Times.
Dear Frank,
What do you think of Jonathan Ross?
Martin.
I Absoloutley love him, top man. We had great fun on and off air when we we're on his Radio 2 show.... so I won't be wacking him in the forseeable
future.
Dear Frank,
What's your favourite food and what's your favourite alcoholic beverage?
Martin.
At last My favourite subject.. food
Italian and Sunday Roasts. Of course ice cream of which I have wrote two books about.
(Ice Cream with Uncle Frank VOL 1 and VOL 2 you can find them in Penguins' Classics' back catalogue)
Drink, Jack Daniels.
Dear Frank,
Do you reckon you could get me on the Jack Daniels gig Guest List?
Martin.
Sorry if I'd have read this earlier, I would've tried my best.
Dear Frank,
There's lots of confusion regarding your name(s). Do you get off on that?
Frank, Mark or Lawrence? Rhythm Man, Rhythm Master or Rhythm Maestro?
Martin.
It's officially FRANK THE RHYTHM MAN
Dear Frank, (Mark???)
Will you still be continuing your work with your other bands or are you strictly a one man band sorta guy now?
Jen.
There are people that I'll always work with on my time off. But yes I'm 100% Fun Lovin' Criminal.
Dear Frank,
How did you land the job as the boys' drummer? Was there an interview? Did you have to wear a tie?
Claire xxx
In my head I've always been the Criminals drummer, even when I wasn't. It's somthing that Fast and Huey have said to me since, so it just felt
natural.
And no didn't wear a tie, just wore my Velour Sopranos' tracksuit. x
Dear Frank,
What is the relationship like between the three of you? Has it changed since you were promoted from drum tech to drummer?
Claire xxx
No, since 1996, we've been friends, and as times grown it's like having two older brothers.
Dear Frank,
Given that Americans can be a bit arsey about foreigners working in their country, how have you got around the touring in America situation?
Claire xxx
That was the one time when I did put on a tie, when I went to the american embassy and it worked
(but it was Armani Italian Silk)
Dear Frank,
Was the signature hat a conscious decision or an accident? It looks good - it can be your gimmick!
Claire xxx
I don't wear it so much as a gimmick it's kinda like me tippin' my hat to some of the old great jazz drummers, that used to wear hats. Glad you
agree it looks dope
Dear Frank,
I think you have an admirer, *cough* Claire.
Martin.
Nothing wrong with that bro!
Dear Frank,
Do you find being in a band helps you to meet the lay-deez? "I'm in a band, you know - perhaps you've heard of us."
Claire x
You meet ladies if you wanna meet ladies;... but being in the band you definately meet your famous kinda girls...but they ain't all that!
Dear Frank,
Is it weird for you now you have to be on TV and stuff?
Love Hollie xxx
No.
Hey Frank,
So when u comin back to Ireland?
Paul.
As soon as possible I love it there and have many friends!
Frank,
How did the "Rhythm Master" nickname come about? Was it something you always had or did you work your way up and get promoted from rhythm
apprentice?
disco_criminal.
Firstly its THE RHYTHM MAN and secondly No, I was nicknamed that by my old drumming friend, Jeff Clemence. The drummer from G-love and Special
sauce
Dear Frank,
How are the fans reacting to your new position?
Love Hollie xxx
They've been fantastic.
I remember going to see Mackie for the first time he took over from Steve O, and having that feeling that it's all going to be different and I
wouldn't like it as much, but lovin' a band is first and formost lovin the music.
Thats what myself, Mackie and Steve have always done. I think the true Fun Lovin' Criminal fans know that, they're the best fans.... I should know
I'm one of them!
Hey Frank,
From all the places you've been on tour as drum tech, where/which venue are you most looking forward to performing now you are the official
drummer?
Jen xx
The Olympia in Dublin
Dear Frank,
What do you ask for in your dressing room on tour?
Love Hollie xxx
Apart from Jack Daniels and ridiculous amounts of ice the most important thing then is my bowl of wine gums....
Dear Frank,
If you could meet any famous person from any point in history, who would it be?
Claire xxx
Jesus.
Dear Frank,
Do you get nervous onstage or at a TV appearance if you know your family is watching?
Claire xxx
No I don't.
Dear Frank,
Has Fast noticed Claire in the bushes outside his house yet? lmao, Hollie
No.
Dear Frank,
What have you most enjoyed since entering the world of showbiz?
Martin.
1st class
Frank
Firstly, congrats in getting the gig in FLC, hopefully you'll be here to stay ;-)
Questions:
1. Will you be moving to New York now that your in the band or will you continue to live in Leicester?
2. Who is now the drum tech for the band?
3. Who in the band has the most disgusting habits?
All the best mate
Phil
1. A bit of both.
2. There's been two people so far, Na'im from Leicester and Annie from New York. Love 'em both.

Dear Frank,
Will you be taking Mackie's place as Chief in the followup to Maui Homicide 2000?
Martin.
No, the follow up is gonna be titled Maui Homicide the return of the king..... I play the king
Dear Frank,
Other than drinking (lol), does the band have any pre gig rituals before you go onstage?
Claire xxx
We all have one of Fisty's secret shots, smoke alot weed listen to alot of Reggae and I do couple of streches. Style Fast and Hueys' hair...then
we're on.
Dear Frank,
Can you believe I won tickets to the JD gig and couldn't go because I ain't eighteen!?
Martin.
That sucks! But that's corporate shows for ya bro.
Dear Frank,
How long do you think you'll be wit us? (In the band, I mean)
Martin.
Until the end. (Forever)
Dear Frank,
Your other projects are very different music to FLC. Is it hard to adapt, or is a drummer just a drummer, no matter what music?
Martin.
I love all kinds of music and all music loves frank
Dear Frank,
You have a load of bands, we're now discovering, so how about adding one more and coming to drum for my band?
Martin.
Not enough hours in the day bro....
Dear Frank,
What's your favourite TV programme and film?
Claire xxx
Phoenix nights, Enter the Dragon.
Dear Frank,
If you could invite eight people (dead or alive) to a dinner party (heh, or a booze up) who would they be?
Martin.
Jim Morrisson, Bruce Lee, Lisa Bonet, Prince, Peter Kay, Beyonce and the white girl Fergie from Black eye'd peas as the stripper.
Dear Frank,
If you could pick one celebrity (dead or alive) to be your girlfriend/sex slave [probably best if she's alive] who would it be?
Martin.
Lisa bonet.
Dear Frank,
Who in the Sopranos are you most like?
Martin.
Tony Soprano.
Dear Frank,
How do I get in the FLC crew?
Martin.
You need to really know a band from the early days to be in a tight knit crew. I.E if your band get big you'd wanna hang with the people you know and
trust so it's like that for us.
FRANK'S FINAL THOUGHT
Thanks to everyone who submitted questions, I don't have much time or am into computers that much but if anyone ever wants to ask me anything then
I'll do my best to get round to answering everything.
P.S Love you all. See you at the next shows
